CHO Power plants meet all regulations relating to environmental protection irrespective of where in the world they are located. More specifically, in France, they meet the regulations applicable to facilities classified as environmentally sensitive (Installations Classées pour la Protection de l’Environnement – ICPE).

feuilles1.jpgEFFECT ON HEALTH

The CHO Power plants produce no dioxins. The atmospheric emissions are the same as those from a small electrical co-generation plant and naturally comply with regulations.
There are no residues buried on site, no water is discharged into rivers.
If the composition of the ash renders it necessary, it is vitrified into a material which is more stable than glass and which can be reused in civil engineering.

Using residues from the sorting of waste to produce electricity, rather than disposing it or destroying it in an incinerator, is a commitment to sustainable development.
Water consumption is limited to maintenance of water levels in closed-loop systems.

feuilles1.jpgGREENHOUSE EFFECT

CHO Power offers a better carbon balance than existing solutions:
-    By preventing the landfilling of waste, thus avoiding the release of methane whose greenhouse gas effect is 21 times greater than that of CO2
-    By reducing transportation thanks to facilities which are smaller, close to urban centres, and suited to rural communities
-    Because of the high yield of electricity, half the CO2 emitted per kWh produced when compared to a wood-fired power plant, CO2 from a biomass source at 60-85%.

CHO Power plants provide sustainable employment which cannot be relocated.

feuilles1.jpgVISUAL EFFECT

The plant is as compact as possible and its architectural design incorporates the latest 21st-century technology.
There will normally be a white plume at the chimney, showing that there is steam present, and therefore that the unit is operating correctly.

feuilles1.jpgNOISE EFFECT

The facilities are to be made up of two units: one unit for sorting/recycling/preparing the waste – which will only operate periodically and during the day; and an electricity-production unit which will operate 24 hours a day. Machinery is located in enclosed buildings to ensure a good soundproof.

feuilles1.jpgODOUR EFFECT

The waste handled in CHO Power plants is non-hazardous and comes from industrial, household and retail sources. The waste is unloaded in an enclosed building and processed at low pressure to avoid dispersion of odours.
